Chappell notes, "My writing focuses on the people of the Four Corners region past and present. I tend not to romanticize my characters, preferring instead to paint them as I find them. They have much the same qualities, good and bad, as the rest of us. At home in Western Colorado, Chappell continues to pursue a lifelong interest in the prehistory of the Four Corners region and its people.

Though his books are works of fiction, a concerted effort is made to maintain the accuracy of the culture and people as he has come to know them. Without their help, this first book would doubtless have languished, eventually sinking into the morass, and there would be no series.

This book has, over the years, been through several edits, editions, and updates. No book is perfect, and this one keeps me centered. A sequel I very much enjoyed writing and one that attracted many new readers. In this instance, however, it proved to be the right move. As I learn, I endeavor to make each succeeding book a little better The third book in the series and the initial flight into the realm of southwestern archaeology.

Harley remains the favorite of reservation readers to this day. He, too, has a pivotal role in later books. This book was a departure for the series in cover art, subject matter, and its move to thriller status on Amazon. A story built around a local tale heard many years ago in Mexico. In the first three months following release, this book sold more copies, and faster, than any of my others to that time.

This book has become another favorite of Navajo friends who follow these stories. As our readership attained a solid base in the genre, I decided to tell the story I had, for many years, envisioned. I am pleased with its success on several levels and in very different genres. I hope one day to revisit this story in one form or another. Another cultural departure in which Harley Ponyboy, once again, wrests away the starring role.

A story of attraction and deceit told against a backdrop of wanton murder and reservation intrigue. It promises to be yet another canyon-lands favorite. A longer story with a more complex plot, one that brings our regular characters into deadly conflict with powerful outside forces.

A personal acquaintance and retired FBI Agent inspired a new look at the Bureau's unsung role on the reservation. A book that's proving very popular with readers of the series, and one I found a great deal of pleasure in writing. This book was somewhat of a milestone for the series, both as the tenth book, and as a story generated by thoughts and emails from long time followers. Who knows what lies in store for poor Harley?

I am pleased Kaipo felt these books worthy of his considerable talent. I hope you enjoy these adventures as much as I enjoy bringing them to you. Caught up in a chilling plot to control the burgeoning trade in Native American art Investigator Charlie Yazzie finds himself dangerously out of his league as two billionaire collectors struggle to dominate the market.

In a last-ditch stand against imported killers is there no one Charlie and his friends can trust? Will it fall to a stranger to intervene and is it really a stranger? Previous page. Print length. Publication date. March 29, File size. Page Flip. Word Wise. Enhanced typesetting. See all details.

And when Charlie Yazzie, Harley Ponyboy and Billy Red Clay appear on the scene, we know there will be spice and more than a dash of impetuousness added to the stew.

Throw in an FBI specialist in art theft and art fraud, and everything comes to a boil. This complex and satisfying picture of those who live the Big Rez in the traditional way will reward all those who love novels set in the gorgeous, scenic, and sometimes dangerous four corners area.

This entertaining tale was, well-written and full of unforeseen, delightful twists and turns. It contains all the ingredients of a well-done and delicious reading experience. I am eagerly looking forward to another entertaining adventure with the Navajo boys, their family members and friends.

The storyline moves smoothly and the characters are well-rounded, likable and cunning in some cases. The descriptive setting is easily visualized.

The name of the villain, Archie Blumker, provided a quickie laugh-out-loud moment. Even so, this book did not disappoint. Growing up, we poked fun at the never-ending "soap operas" our mothers were addicted to viewing.
